In this modern age I can sit and watch an entire Metallica concert filmed across the other side of the World only a few days ago.

The iconic Black Album by Metallica is now available in hi-resolution 96kHz/24bit FLAC format on HDtracks.com for $17.98.

I remember buying the album on vinyl when it was released, which quickly picked up scratches, then I upgraded to CD, a measily 44kHZ/16 bit format

Sorely tempted now to upgrade yet again, hear those crushing riffs in all their sonic glory!

Word about the interwebs at the moment is that Metallica will be heading into the studio maybe as early as March or April to start recording a new album! Well according to Lars who said in an interview with Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet:

There’s a really good vibe in the band at the moment. In the past, we would be fed up with METALLICA whenever we returned home after a gigantic world tour, but this time it’s different. Therefore it won’t be that long before we start working on a new album. I think that we’ll probably already get the creative process going in March or April and go into the studio. We really want to get back to METALLICA quickly because we are enjoying it so much right now.

It’s great to hear that things are apparently going well and after Death Magnetic and the Big 4 concert I do wonder if good old METAL fires have been stoked in camp Metallica.
