Great to see that the Bombastic Meatbats will be releasing a new album on October 19th called ‘More Meat’:

Remember the good old days, when jazz-fusion wasn’t all about showing off your chops, and was more about creating sweeping moods, and the importance of songwriting? Well, the Bombastic Meatbats certainly remember those days. Having obviously studied the classic early-to-mid ’70s recordings of such fusion greats as Return to Forever and Jeff Beck, the group (which includes such members as Grammy winning Red Hot Chili Peppers/Chickenfoot drummer Chad Smith, guitarist Jeff Kollman, keyboardist Ed Roth, and bassist Kevin Chown), is back with their sophomore full-length album. Aptly titled, “More Meat,” the album is jam-packed follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed “Meet the Meatbats,” and once more, is released by Warrior Records via Universal Music Group Distribution.

Spotted over on Modern Guitars, Chad Smith’s Bombastic Meatbats, featuring the mighty Jeff Kollman on guitar, have just finished tracking for their second album:

Los Angeles all-stars Chad Smith’s Bombastic Meatbats, featuring drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chickenfoot), guitarist Jeff Kollman (Glenn Hughes, Cosmosquad), bassist Kevin Chown (Uncle Kracker, Ted Nugent), and keybaordist Ed Roth (Glenn Hughes, Ronnie Montrose), have finished tracking their second studio album with engineer/producer Ryan Hewitt at a Venice, CA facility. “We played the songs a bit live before going into the studio,” states Kollman. “We cut all 12 tracks live over a three day period in March. All without a click track . Old school. Just how the Bats like it.”

Also great to see that their debut album, Meet The Meatbats, is to be released soon:

The band’s long awaited debut album, Meet the Meatbats, recorded in early 2008, will be issued this summer in the U.S. and Canada on Warrior Records/Universal Music. A Japanese release is scheduled for August on an as-of-yet undisclosed label.

Cosmosquad is proud to present their first live DVD entitled “Lights, Camera, Squad!”. The concert was filmed this past fall at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California and includes all the classic Squad tunes. There are also some cool extras, including a 20-minute interview, behind the scenes tour footage from Japan, a special look into Jeff’s guitar collection and many more.
