RGT offers a series of fully-accredited post-Grade Eight Performance Diplomas that reflect the specific musical skills needed by jazz guitarists.

There are four levels of Jazz Guitar Performance Diploma available:
Diploma Of The London College Of Music – DipLCM
Associate Of The London College Of Music – ALCM
Licentiate Of The London College Of Music – LLCM
Fellowship Of The London College Of Music – FLCM

Each diploma provides guitarists with the opportunity to gain an internationally recognised professional qualification and to develop their jazz playing skills to an advanced level. The Diplomas are awarded by London College of Music Exams and are accredited by Thames Valley University.

A lot has happened in the past year and the site has developed into MUCH more than I could have imagined and so we are running a competition to commemorate our first birthday.

HOW DO I WIN?
I will read through EVERY entry to the competition and select those that are honest and genuine. Any SPAM entries will be deleted.
The usernames of those who have made entries will be added to a database. On September 11th 2010 I will close the thread and randomly select one of the usernames from the database; that person has won!
I will then contact that person via PM through the forum to obtain their mailling address etc… and post out the prize ASAP.

RULES
Please read these rules very carefully as anyone not complying to the rules will be banned from the competition. These rules are here to make the competition run smoothly.
- Only one entry per person. C’mon guys be reasonable. No multiple usernames, fake e-mail addresses etc. There are ways to check these things and if anyone is found cheating in this manner they will be banned from Dirt Box altogether.
- Anyone can enter anywhere in the world! Age is not important.
- The competition will close when the thread is locked at some point on September 11th 2010 (GMT), so don’t leave your entries to the last minute, get them in as soon as possible.
- This competition should cost you nothing! I will pay postage and packaging but I am NOT liable for any taxes that your government incurs upon arrival of the prize. You SHOULDN’T have to pay anything as this is a competition prize but there is a chance your government will charge you some kind of VAT or other tax. Again, this is not my fault and you will have to pay these charges.
- There are extra rules in the submission thread.

Today I am launching a very exciting competition, the follow up to the Guitar Noize Anti-Shred solo contest called “Blue Noize”. This contest is a blues solo competition as I explain in the video above and all styles of blues are going to be accepted, in the end the judges will choose what they believe to be the best solos. Guitar Noize’s Paul and myself Jon will whittle down the entries to a top 20 and then hand them over to the international panel of judges, Suhr Artists Andy Wood (Andy is also the guitarist in the band Down From Up), Rick Graham and Tom Quayle who will then choose a top 3.

To enter first download the backing track by heading over to the contest page at Jamtrackcentral – http://jamtrackcentral.com/blue_noize.php, you will also find a preview of the track with a sample solo on this page too to give you some ideas.

Once you have the backing track, record your solo and upload your video to YouTube as a video response to the video above. To do this first upload your video as per usual, then go to my competition video click in the post comment textarea and a “attach a video” link will appear to the right, click on that and select your video it will be automatically added. You don’t have to solo for the entire duration, it is totally up to you.

The amazing prize pool is as follows:

The details of Guitar Idol 2010 are in the final stages of planning and we wanted to let you know to watch this space in the next couple of weeks!

There’s been alot of enquiries about the competition, but we wanted to confirm that entry is not yet open, so don’t panic.


Guitar Idol 2009 was a huge success with the final being held at last year’s London Music Show. Thousands of entries were recieved and 12 talented finalists were chosen..

The 2009 live event was also broadcast across the web with tens of thousands of viewers worldwiding tuning in to watch the finals and vote for their winning performance.

All our amazing finalists gave the packed audience a performance to remember but there could be just 1 winner. Jack Thammarat from Thailand stepped away as the Guitar Idol 2009 winner with the grand prize of a PRS Custom 24 presented to him by Ace from the band Skunk Anansie, a Marshal JVM stack and a special prize of a £3000 custom guitar made by Rob Williams Guitars.

The legendary Steve Vai even chose his own personal favourite from the finalist and awarded Daniele Gottardo a special prize of an Ibanez Jem signed by Steve himself.
