DVD/Blu-Ray: Chickenfoot ‘Get Your Buzz On’ live DVD out April 26th!
March 11, 2010
The highly anticipated Chickenfoot live DVD ‘Get Your Buzz On’ will be released in the US on April 20th and in UK on April 26th on both DVD and Blu-ray formats.
Chickenfoot brings together the talents of ex-Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (guitar & vocals) and Michael Anthony (bass), Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer Chad Smith and legendary guitar hero Joe Satriani. Coming together initially in late 2008 they released their eponymous debut album in the spring of 2009 to unanimous critical acclaim and spectacular sales. With their combined pedigree they were always going to be a great live band and the album release was inevitably followed by tour dates in Europe and North America. This show was filmed at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix, Arizona on September 23rd and proves that the onstage chemistry between the four performers is something genuinely special.
The Blu-ray and DVD editions of this exciting concert are jam-packed with exclusive, never-before-seen backstage footage, rare interviews, extra performance footage, photo gallery and hilarious segments featuring a host of surprise special guests, including Adam Corolla, Bob Weir and Christopher Guest (alias Nigel Tufnel) from the hit movie “Spinal Tap”.

Thanks to Laurie, very cool video lessons from Guitar World chatting with Jimmy Herring about the song ‘Scapegoat Blues’ and using chord voicings within the diminished scale and incorporating that sound in a bluesier context:

From that and your huge body of work, it’s obvious that you’re very motivated. Where does your drive come from?
My motivation varies radically, depending on my environment and mindset. I have to thank my parents for always having good music playing on the stereo when I was a kid, and for creating an atmosphere that encouraged creativity in general. I saw some great concerts when I was a kid, too: Van Halen, Ozzy with Randy Rhoads, Pat Travers, UFO, Cheap Trick, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Saxon, and others. These all inspired me enormously. And now I have live shows and recording deadlines to inspire me. Plus, watching this one video of Gary Moore on YouTube—search for “Gary Moore Lesson,” it will blow your mind. The tour I did with G3 was very motivating, as well. Overall, though, as much as I fancy myself a staunch individualist, my strongest motivation comes from knowing I’ll be having some kind of interaction with other human beings. It can be teaching one student, playing for an audience of 10,000, or anything in between. Book a gig, and you will be motivated!
