Just spotted on truthinshredding and announced in the Guitar Idol forums. Daniele Gottardo has won the Steve Vai Guitar Idol prize.

Steve Vai watched over the performances of the Guitar Idol finals and it looks like Daniele caught his eye!

Steve said

“There is a whole new breed of guitar players emerging. Players that are redefining the parameters of guitar virtuosity. It was a pleasure to judge the Guitar Idol contest and see many of these young innovators in action.”

Congrats to Gotty and as a reminder here is Daniele’s amazing performance from the finals:

Fantastic guitarist with only one slight problem, his guitar is way too high ;)

I’m not surprised Vai picked him, some of his licks are Vai-esque as is his showmanship.

Though to be fair only way to pull off those kinda licks! Look like a Dork sound like a GOD!! ;)

I always felt that the guys with the guitars hanging low looked try hard.. Obviously glad enough to blame their sloppy playing on having their instrument hanging around their knees :P Truth is that’s just the best they can do so why fight it. Can you name one real guitar great who doesn’t have the guitar higher than the emu’s who can’t really play at all?
    Just my “proffessional” opinion :D

Good Rhythm to have fun with. I like the hair tie as well. Makes it easier to not have the strings go BING on ya and be creative. He was definitely creative!! Congrats..EXCELLENT job!!!
