songsterrA student of mine recently pointed me towards a rather nifty website called www.songsterr.com

I’ve never been a fan of the classic ASCII TAB due to the lack of rhythm notation but Songsterr gets round this by using flash to show TAB plus with rhythms as well as chord diagrams, very much in the style of Guitar World magazine etc.

It goes even further by providing a playback feature using decent enough guitar sounds ( similar to Guitar Pro ) with options to print and half tempo playback for ‘Songsterr Plus‘ account holders.

There also (thankfully!) an option to fix the TAB which should help to refine the user submitted transcriptions.

In their own words:

Songsterr is an online guitar tab player that solves the biggest problem of guitar tabs (absence of information on rhythm and duration) and allows one to actually listen to the guitar tab played by a realistic guitar engine.

Songsterr is awesome and was even better when it was initially free. The lack of money is limiting me in what I can do and spend. However, when I have the money, I will be hitting songsterr.com. It is such a great resource.
