Erotic Cakes Transcriptions and Backing Tracks
May 30, 2007
Forgot to mention this but the ever generous and Godlike chaps at bluesjamtracks.com in conjuction with Mr Guthrie Govan are working on providing downloads of videos, backing tracks and tab for each track on Guthrie Govan’s stunning debut album, Erotic Cakes. In the words of bluesjamtracks’ Adrian Clark:
In the land of bluesjamtracks we like coming up with new ideas, and this is our latest idea. Guthrie is going to sit in our studio and play “live in the studio” versions of all the Erotic Cakes tracks. He will be doing this despite the inconvenience of having a video camera pointing at his nimble fingers.
The videos will be freely available, just like the one for “Fives”, but that’s not all. For a small price, you will be able to buy the backing tracks (the ones Guthrie uses when he plays at clinics, etc) along with basic transcriptions of the main themes (not the solos) to get you started. All of this stuff will be available for download from bluesjamtracks.com
and an update from bluesjamtracks’ Jan Cyrka today:
We’ve booked Guthrie into the studio and hopefully we shouldhave the backing tracks, films and main part transcriptions ready todownload in about 4 weeks. We are just as excited about it as youare. Especially
me, as I get to see Guthrie perform about 2 feet away! We’re pretty happy with the format of what we will be
offering, and I hope that you will be too. But if you have any thoughts or suggestions, then don’t hesitate to post them up on this thread.
The really big question is……what T-Shirt should Guthrie be wearing for each individual track? I’ll leave you to ponder.
Oh and an enormous thanks to everybody for being so supportive of Cornford Records, Erotic Cakes and bluesjamtracks.com.
Many thanks,
Jan Cyrka
I am very excited about this and can’t wait to get ahold of the package!

May 28, 2007 New Master That Riff! Acoustic and odd time signature fun with Porcupine Tree’s ‘The Sound Of Muzak’. May 25, 2007 Just finished off a quick recording for this Month’s Guitarist Recording Collective. This month’s task was to: Solo piece, ensemble, vocal, fingerpicked, strummed, nylon, steel; whatever you like. Just try to keep it acoustic and the thought of Summer in your head. Bit different this time, opted to film it! MTR 19 - Porcupine Tree ‘The Sound Of Muzak’

Steve Vai ‘Sound Theories’
May 24, 2007

At last, the Metropole performances are being released on CD:
Epic Records has announced a June 26 release for Sound Theories Vol. I & II, a double-live CD capturing legendary guitarist Steve Vai’s electrifying collaboration with the Netherlands Metropole Orchestra. The two-disc set spotlights rare material culled from five European performances, a studio session and a soundcheck rehearsal recording, all of which took place between mid-2004 and 2005.
Having been there in 2004 *smug* ;), I’m really looking forward to having a CD copy of these performances.
