Been busy of late, starting with a trip down to Manchester on Friday to see a gig at the MEN Arena, BB King with Gary Moore in support.
First time I had been to the MEN Arena and was impressed with the scale of the place. Gary Moore played for about and hour and was on tremendous form, ripping through runs in his unmistakable style as well as playing some tender blues.
After a short break the man himself, the ‘King of Blues’ took to the stage, choosing to sit due to his ‘bad knees’ :). I had seen BB previously in Edinburgh and was in awe of the living legend then, this time was no different. His band were sublime, dressed impeccably harking back to an age of music as a whole entertainment package. ‘Beeb’, though now the grand old age of 80, sang and played with pure conviction and passion which was truly inspiring to watch and listen to. As usual, he talked in between songs, with great humour and entertained us all.
They say this is to be his last tour, but as BB said, if fate wills it he’ll be back. I do hope so.
On Saturday morning we quickly nipped down the M6 to Albrighton to attend this years ‘Spring Guitar Idol’. Yet another gathering of the UKMG brethren, filled with beer, laughs and loud music!
As usual it was great to see everyone again as well as take to the stage and play through some tunes and sit back and watch others do the same. We also managed to help raise a tasty £400 for charity!
