Fun in the Snow
March 31, 2005
I’ve just returned from a weeks holiday in lovely Les Deux Alpes, sliding down steep snowy hills at great speed on a board.
Last time I did anything vaguely Winter Sports related was in my very early teens when I learned to ski for a month or so and to be honest I was never really any good. Therefore the prospect of nipping off to France to throw myself down an Alp did give rise to mild trepidations.
At the start of the week Kate and I kept to the nursery slopes getting to grips with the basics under the tutelage of Kate’s brother, who is a great teacher and of course is a totally rad boarder maaaan, or something like that. It was interesting to be slowly moving down what was really a tiny hill with toddlers whizzing by on skis perfectly at ease as if they had slalomed out of the womb.
By the third day we were ready, well so Kate’s brother said, to venture upwards to the Glacier. The views from the cable car as we ascended to 3600m were truly spectacular and once we reached the summit you could see for miles and miles.
The slope difficulties were marked Green, Blue, Red and Black for easy, so so, hard and certain death respectively. Initially we stuck to a steep Green which allowed us to try out our new found ’skillz’ and once we started getting the hang of things I could clearly understand the lure of the sport. Exhilarating stuff.
On the very last day we even braved a Blue run which was a bit lumpy for my liking, but was safely navigated. Not bad for a pair who didn’t even know how to put a board on a few days previous. All in all a great break away and something we highly recommend and would definitely do again though to be honest I already have a expensive hobby which takes up all my time

New Pedalboard lack of updates…
March 8, 2005
Not many updates at the moment as a) we are about to finally close the deal on selling our house and moving to ‘The New Pad’ in April and b) I foolishly bought ( well tbh my lovely g/f bought it in Asda after every other shop in the Universe had run out of stock ) World of Warcraft, bye bye free time…
But, I have finally cobbled together a Pedalboard for live playing and ease of pedal transport thanks to Flightcase Warehouse.
