New recording!
December 11, 2004
I have been writing and recording again
.
Today I wrote a piece for the December Task for the Guitarist Home Recording Collective which was:
“You have 60 seconds to express your personality as fully as possible through the medium of music. “
A tricky proposition, but I finally opted to write a piece that reflected the side of my personality where I can appear quiet and shy when meeting new people, but become my more usual chirpy self once I get to know them
.
The piece is entitled ‘Nosce te Ipsum’ ( Latin for ‘Know Yourself’ ) and can be downloaded here.

Clean guitar parts recorded with Jem 7VSBL through clean channel of Legacy, mic’ed up. Drum loop from Computer Music disc used in middle section, bassline played on my Peavey Dynabass. Final climatic section drums programmed by myself with ns_kit and Battery, lead guitar once again Jem through Legacy with an Eko Acoustic providing some backing with clean guitar track with Dynabass again.

Dimebag Darell, RIP

Gunman targets heavy metal band
Gunman kills 4 at Ohio nightclub
Details still coming out… totally senseless killing of people. The ease at which some nutter can do this amazes and sickens me.
I first remember seeing Pantera on the Raw Power TV progamme when they first started to become big and their sound blew me away. Pushed my musical buttons. I have fond memories of trying to learn and play ‘Cowboys From Hell’, ‘Walk’ and ‘This Love’ with my mates at school when we used to get together and jam.
A tremendous talent. RIP.
RGT Exam Update
December 6, 2004
Sat the RGT ‘Exam’ on Saturday and all in all it went well once I relaxed into it. Actually ended up chatting with the examiner more often than answering exam questions
. Many thanks to the examiner for welcoming me into his home and making me feel welcome.
Fingers crossed for result, should know within 4 weeks.
Exam!
