Initiation

My first piece of Major Recording. Composed for UKMG Offline Vol 3 a double CD collective effort from various members of the uk.music.guitar Newsgroup.

From working on this project I was able to start getting into the nitty-gritty of recording with Cubase SX and mixing. One day when I’ve improved my mixing ability I’ll probably do a remix of this piece :).

The song originated from a four chord sequence I had been playing around with for ages: Cadd9#11 -> C -> Dadd11 -> Em with the following fingerings:

Which feature in the ‘chorus’ of the piece.

The song was recorded using the Jem for the main melody lines and rhythm. Whilst the solo was recorded using the RG3120. All Guitars plugged through the POD. Drums by the Gold Drums soundfont and Cubase’s Drum editor and my weak drum skills ;). Bass by a Bass soundfont I’ve now forgotten the name of.
